Hannah Wells isn’t very in touch with her sexuality, and it is something that she doesn’t tend to engage with.

She doesn’t find many people attractive, so when she finally finds someone who she is attracted to, she must step out of her comfort zone if she wants to grab his attention.

Even if it means tutoring the annoying captain of the hockey team in return for a fake date. Garrett Graham has always dreamed of playing hockey professionally, but when his GPA starts to drop, his dreams start to slip away from him.

Bridgerton Series – Julia Quinn

Bridgerton Family Series Collection 1-9 Books Set by Julia Quinn

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the Bridgerton series of novels.

This series by Julia Quinn has been transformed into a TV series by Netflix and Shonda Rhimes, and when the first series was released in 2020 it took the world by storm. If you are a fan of the series, you will love the novels.

For anyone who loves historical fiction, Bridgerton is the perfect series to escape into. This series is based in the 1800s, and throughout the novels, different characters are explored.

Each character gets their own story, and the bulk of these stories include a romance storyline. The first book in the series focuses on Daphne Bridgerton who realizes that she is naive to think she will be able to marry for love.

She is of money, and as a result, she will need to enter into a marriage that will protect her family’s money and status.

As well as telling Daphne’s story, the first novel introduces the reader to the characters that will be focused on in the later novels.

With 9 books to read, and between 300–400 pages per novel, there is plenty of content for you to sink your teeth into. And with themes and plots that will have you hooked from the get-go, I’m sure you’ll love this romance book series!

Pros

  • Plenty of books to read.
  • Perfect for fans of historical fiction.
  • Similar yet different to the TV series.

Cons

  • A large series that will take quite some time to complete.

The Brown Sisters Series – Talia Hibbert

Get a Life, Chloe Brown: A Novel (The Brown Sisters, 1)

On the back of a fairly long series of novels, I would like to recommend a much shorter series of novels, and that is The Brown Sisters series. This series of novels is a trilogy, with each novel focusing on one of the Brown sisters.

The first novel – Get a Life, Chloe Brownfocuses on Chloe Brown, a chronically ill computer geek who decides to “get a life” after a near-death experience.

She has a list that she wants to complete, and she needs someone to help her. That’s how she recruits Red to help her, and from there, their love story unfolds.

The second book – Take a Hint, Dani Brownis perfect for fans of the fake dating trope. Dani Brown has her eyes set on professional and academic success, with zero interest in romance.

But when the security guard at her office – Zafir – saves her during a fire drill, she finds herself tangled in a fake romance, and suddenly the thought of real dating seems very appealing.

The final novel in the series – Act Your Age, Eve Brownfocuses on Eve Brown whose life is a hot mess. When she ends up ruining a very expensive wedding, her parents tell her that she has to grow up and prove that she is an adult.

But she doesn’t know how to do this. On her journey to do this, she meets Jacob Wayne, and the novel follows their story.

The Brown Sisters series is great for anyone looking for a series that they can dip in and out of, and with important themes explored throughout, you really should check it out!

Pros

  • Shorter series – 3 novels.
  • Inter-connected stories throughout the series.
  • Important themes are explored throughout.

Cons

  • Each novel focuses on a different character, rather than the same character throughout.

Heartstopper Series – Alice Oseman

Heartstopper Series Volume 1-4 Books Set By Alice Oseman

The Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman is another series of novels that was picked up by Netflix to be adapted into a TV series, and it is easy to see why.

These incredibly popular graphic novels tell the sweet coming-of-age tale of Charlie and Nick and deals with a lot of very important themes.

The Heartstopper series consists of 4 novels, and there is also a coloring book available for fans of the series too.

Throughout the novels, Charlie and Nick go on a journey that involves exploring their sexualities, coming to terms with their sexual orientation, and adjusting to the discrimination in school regarding their sexuality.

From the very first novel, you will fall in love with Charlie and Nick, and there is something truly pure about their feelings for one another.

As the series progresses, their story develops further and by the end of the series, you will have fallen in love with both of the main characters in these novels.

The Heartstopper series is a little different from the other novels explored in this series due to the fact that it is made up of graphic novels.

But for anyone searching for a romance book series that is a little different, I would definitely recommend this series!

Pros

  • A heartwarming story.
  • Characters you will love.
  • Important themes are explored in an easy-to-understand way.

Cons

  • Not a traditional book format.

Hopeless Series – Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover Ebook Boxed Set Hopeless Series: Hopeless, Losing Hope, Finding Cinderella, All Your Perfects, and Finding Perfect

As social media has become more popular, a lot of people have been turning to platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to talk about books.

These platforms have allowed what are almost digital book clubs to be created, and one author that has become immensely popular due to these platforms is Colleen Hoover.

Colleen Hoover has a huge back catalog of novels, and as well as writing a lot of standalone novels, she has also written a handful of series too.

If you are searching for a good romance series to read by this author, I would recommend the Hopeless series.

The series consists of 4 novels, but one of her standalone novels can also be read as part of the series to give more insight into the characters and the plot. This series focuses on Sky and Holder who both have upsetting and traumatic pasts.

Together, these two individuals embark on a journey together to discover the lessons of life and the healing power of the truth.

Before reading the final novella in the series – Finding Perfect – I would recommend reading Hoover’s standalone novel – All Your Perfects – as there is some crossover in the characters in these novels.

Reading All Your Perfects will give you the ultimate reading experience of this series of love, loss, and hope.

Pros

  • A 4 part series with an optional fifth read.
  • An easy-to-follow plot with interesting themes.
  • Characters that you relate to.

Cons

  • Aimed at young adult readers.

Best Romance Book Series Buyer’s Guide

Number Of Books In The Series

Before you choose a romance book series to read, you need to consider the number of books that are in that series. There are some book series that contain a lot of novels (10+), while there are some that contain just 2–3 novels.

Instead of diving right into a series, consider the number of novels in that series and if you want to read that amount of novels. If you are looking for a short series, stick to one that contains just 2–3 novels.

In contrast, if you are looking for a longer series, choose one that contains a lot of novels.

Background Themes

Something else to consider is the background themes that are included in the novel. Romance novels will not solely have romance as a theme, instead, there will be a variety of other background themes included in the novel.

Some common themes found in romance series include friendship, betrayal, falling in love, enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, coming of age, and lots more.

Consider what themes you are comfortable reading and bear them in mind when looking for a romance series to check out.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are many brilliant book series to check out if you are a fan of romance novels. From historical fiction novels to modern-day coming-of-age romance novels, there is something for everyone out there.

If you’re unsure about what to read next, check out the guide above for all the recommendations you need.
